Erb Tutoring Services
Wendy Erb is the proud owner and director of Erb Tutoring Services. She started out in the field of Early Childhood Education, before being hired in 1983 by Nanci Bell, owner of Academy of Reading, and Charles and Patricia Lindamood, owners of the Lindamood Language and Literacy Center. The two combined and became Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes in 1986. Between 1986 and 2005, Wendy worked as a clinician, consultant, and clinical director. She also traveled ten of those years providing workplace literacy skills, training teachers and working with students within school districts, setting up new learning centers, and overseeing personalized instruction. In 2006, Wendy established Erb Tutoring Services. She brings 31 years of experience developing reading, spelling, comprehension, and math skills with children and adults. Wendy has a wealth of knowledge and experience within the field that she utilizes every day to improve the lives of individuals of all ages needing help in their own learning challenges.
Thompson Tutoring Services
Katy Thompson, Wendy Erb’s daughter, was raised around the language and methods utilized by Erb Tutoring Services, even working as a clinician for Lindamood-Bell straight out of high school. Since then, she has received her Bachelor’s Degree from San Diego State University, focusing on Child Development and Psychology. Katy is currently working on her Master’s in Educational Psychology and also brings with her 10 years of experience working with special needs children and families in skill development, behavioral modification, and parent training.
Gwin Tutoring Services
Colleen Gwin brings many years of experience and education to Wendy Erb’s team. She was trained by Lindamood-Bell and worked as both a clinician and a consultant under Wendy Erb and at the Lindamood-Bell’s corporate headquarters. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from Mills College and a Master’s degree in English from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She loves working with students of all ages.
Johnstone Tutoring Services
Pat Johnstone is originally from the San Joaquin Valley where she earned a degree in Early Childhood Development. She and her late husband, Ron Johnstone, moved to the Central Coast in 1976, where they raised their four children. Pat taught the Toddler’s and the Pre-K class at Little Lambs Preschool in Atascadero. She so enjoyed working as an aid in the Reading Lab at Santa Rosa Elementary School that she pursued a career to help children learn to love reading. Pat’s goal was attained when she began working at Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes in both the San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles offices. After six years, she “semi-retired,” for a brief period of time, before becoming a part of Erb Tutoring Services in 2006. Pat is blessed to continue to share skills and proven methods to equip students with the tools they need to read with accuracy, and comprehension to enable them to learn to love reading.
Bishop Tutoring Services
Darrin Bishop is a Paso Robles native and have lived in northern San Luis Obispo county most of his life. He graduated from Paso Robles High School in 1989 and met his wife, Darcy, two years later. He attended Cuesta Community College where he received his Associates degree. Later, he attended Humboldt State University in northern California and earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Fisheries Biology. In the late 90’s, Darrin returned to the area to pursue a teaching career. Shortly thereafter, he began working for Lindamood-Bell as a clinician, and then, as a consultant. He has over 13 years of experience with the Lindamood-Bell programs, helping people of all ages develop reading, spelling, math, and comprehension skills. This, accompanied with his strong science and math background allows him to help students in a broad range of subjects. Darrin finds working with children an extremely rewarding job and looks forward to helping your child achieve success in school.
